Jimmy is a professor of Canine Medicine and was head of the Internal Medicine Service at the Royal Dick in Edinburgh until starting his own clinical practice in 2011.
Jimmy qualified from The Royal Dick Veterinary College in 1977 and spent the next three years in mixed general practice before returning to 'The Dick’ to study for a master’s degree. He then became lecturer, and subsequently Professor, of Canine Medicine, in the Division of Veterinary Clinical Studies.
Jimmy has been awarded the BSAVA Blaine Award for outstanding contributions to small animal medicine and a Winston Churchill Fellowship. His areas of expertise include:
